COME TO TEMENOS COUNCIL
Dear lover of Temenos –
Whether you come to Temenos frequently, once every 10 years, stay for a week, or spend just one night on the mountain, you know that it is a magical place of respite and wonder — a place where the spirit can unfold. Founders Joe and Teresina Havens — and many volunteers — cultivated a sacred space “devoted to the healing and renewal of persons, groups and the wider society, and to the discovery and practice of Truth.”
Wanting to ensure the continuity of Temenos beyond their own lives, and with guidance from a diverse group of advisors, in 1982 the Havens established Temenos as a non-profit and entrusted its future to the first Council. Council members carry forward the founding directives by committing to community building, governance by consensus, and to care of the land and its inhabitants.
The Temenos Council actively seeks new members to continue living these commitments.
There is so much that is uncertain in this world, particularly now as we live with the impacts of Covid-19 and the harsh realities of racial and economic injustice. What is certain — as certain as anything can be — is that our world needs places for the healing of all beings, and for communion with the earth, trees, birds and sky. Temenos is such a place.
If you would like to participate in its stewardship, helping to guide its future, we hope you will consider joining Council.
